Rage — The Soundtrack

BY Shawn MerrillPublished Dec 1, 2003

Blending punk heroes of the past with punk inspired acts of today, Rage is a superb audio documentation of the West Coast scene. Motivated by the film documentary Rage — 20 Years of Punk Rock on the West Coast producer/director Michael Bishop ensures that old school contributions by TSOL, the Circle Jerks, the Dils, the Weirdos, the Adolescents and Flipper are present to represent the birth of the scene. And to denote the musical evolution from those turbulent beginnings are the Street Walkin’Cheetahs, Gitane Demone (Ex-Christian Death), Exit Highland, Blu, Paul Roessler (Ex-Screamers), and Jack Grisham (Ex-TSOL). The only true criticism surrounding this compilation lies in the absence of Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), Don Bolles (the Germs), and Duane Peters (the Hunns/US Bombs), who are participants in the film but appear nowhere on the soundtrack.
