This compilation from new Halifax label New Seen has an element of a punk rock battle of the bands. With 13 bands and 24 songs, it has got a bit of everything, including intentionally lo-fi sound quality. The folks at New Seen released this "to put us on the Canadian punk rock map," but whether or not that happens remains to be seen. Even though crappy sound quality may be endearing to those of us who were around when it was the standard for any punk release, the kids weaned on West Beach slickness may not have the stomach for it.
