High fantasy has merged with the heavy metal and hip-hop scenes again, as the second Game of Thrones-themed Catch the Throne mixtape has just landed, equipped with new tunes from the likes of Mastodon, Ty Dolla $ign and Anthrax.
Over the last little while, we'd heard story arc-referencing tracks from Talib Kweli and Mastodon that'd bring a tear to George R.R. Martin's eye, but now HBO has let loose all 15 songs from the project. This includes Snoop Dogg's ruthless salute to the House Lannister ("Lannister Anthem"), a double kick-stomped crusher from Killswitch Engage ("Loyalty"), and a conceptual blend of medieval tones and modern production techniques from R&B queen Estelle ("Let Me Go").
