Vancouver's Baptists Sign to Southern Lord

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Dec 20, 2010

Over the years, Southern Lord has unleashed an insane amount of metal and punk releases that have absolutely caved in our eardrums. This year alone, the label put out nearly 20 releases from bands as disparate as stoner legends Earth and new-school grinders Nails. Come next year, the L.A.-based record company's roster will get a little crustier and, well, a little more Canadian, courtesy of new signees Baptists.

The Vancouver outfit, featuring members of Sports and Ladyhawk, have just announced via their Facebook account that they will be releasing a seven-inch single on Southern Lord sometime in 2011. Considering how thrashed-up the crew's MySpace uploads are, bringing to mind the best parts of Cursed and Converge, their upcoming release promises to be a demonically blitzkrieged banger.

"We are beyond excited to announce that our 7" will be coming out via the mighty SOUTHERN LORD RECORDS! Not sure on an exact release date, but it'll be soon," the band wrote. "We truly could not be more stoked than this. Seriously."

Here's what their new label has to say about them. "Absolutely raging, chaotic, punishing hardcore from Vancouver, Canada. This is the band first release and we guarantee it will completely flatten you."

Neither a release date nor the tracklisting has popped up for the platter.
