Ty Segall Band Lines Up New 'Slaughterhouse' Album

BY Alex HudsonPublished Apr 18, 2012

Ty Segall has released a steady stream of garage rock albums under his own name, but the San Francisco songwriter will go in a slightly different direction for his next album, which will be the first released under the name Ty Segall Band. Entitled Slaughterhouse, it will be out June 26 via In the Red.

As the name on the spine indicates, Slaughterhouse was recorded with Segall's live band, which is made up of Mikal Cronin, Charlie Moothart and Emily Rose Epstein. It was laid down at Sacramento, CA's Hangar Studios with Chris Woodhouse, and a statement from In the Red founder Larry Hardy notes that the band "turned their amps all the way up, set their fuzz pedals on obliterate, and commenced to kick ass and take names."

The album will apparently "melt your face" with its "fuzz riffs, bratty howl and Cro-Magnon bashing," which showcase Segall's psych-pop stylings in an even more aggressive light than usual. This all builds towards a "a fuzztone feedback freakout that's pretty much the only sensible way to end a workout of this magnitude."

But don't forget about Segall's collaborative LP with White Fence, Hair, which comes out April 28 through Drag City.

White Fence will be joining Segall on tour this spring, so scroll past the tracklist to see Segall's upcoming schedule.
