Toronto quartet Two-Pump Louie have come up with a straight-ahead punk rock record that may not offer any real surprises, but has the right idea. This is a something like a cross between Tilt and old Youth Brigade. Ten songs that run more along the personal, almost depressing side, offset by catchy pop-edged punk with cool melodies and the right amount of attitude. They also cover "Louie Louie," changing the words to, you guessed it, "2-Pump Louie." This is the kind of band whose live energy is limited by the studio.
