The Twilight Sad Detail 'No One Can Ever Know' LP

BY Alex HudsonPublished Nov 14, 2011

It's been a couple of months since cinematic Scottish rockers the Twilight Sad promised that their third album No One Can Ever Know would be arriving in February 2012. True to their word, the band have now confirmed that the disc will be dropping on February 7 via FatCat Records.

The album was recorded at the Pool studio in London, UK, with producer Andrew Weatherall (Primal Scream, Beth Orton). Guitarist Andy MacFarlane explained in a press release that the record finds the band progressing "toward a sparser sound, with a colder, slightly militant feel."

This "dark, synth-heavy sound" draws on influences like Cabaret Voltaire, Can, Liars, Magazine, Autechre and Public Image Limited. The results apparently bear some sonic similarities to Depeche Mode, the Cure, and Nine Inch Nails.

Expect the band to embark on an American tour in 2012. There's no word as to whether this will include Canadian dates. In the meantime, get a taste of the band's new sound in the form of the singles "Kill It in the Morning" and "Sick," both of which are streaming below. The album cover is above.
