Earlier this year, Vancouver newbies Tough Age seemingly came out of nowhere to sign with Mint Records and announce their self-titled debut. Now, the album has arrived, as it's available to stream in full on Exclaim.ca ahead of its November 12 release date.
The 11-song album is a fast and punchy affair that never finds the band entirely abandoning their guitar-driven garage rock sound. That being said, they tap into a range of styles, with various forays including the sugar-spiked doo-wop ditty "The Heart of Juliet Jones," the 12-bar basher "Open It Up" and the dreamy "Sea Horse." With so much melody and raw energy packed into half an hour, it's no wonder this caught Mint's ear.

Also, Tough Age will celebrate their album with a release party on November 16 at Vancouver's Biltmore as part of the Fall Down Get Down Festival, along with play Victoria's Felicitas the night before.
