Toronto's annual X Avant New Music Festival turns 10 this year, and, as in year's past, organizers are bringing out a handful of experimental and avant garde artists to celebrate. The line-up details have begun to trickle out, confirming performances from ex-Battles member Tyondai Braxton and more.

In addition to this being the tenth edition of the X Avant New Music Festival, a press release notes that the event also celebrates host venue the Music Gallery's 40th season in Toronto. The fest will run October 15 to 18, and will showcase experimental talent from Canada and abroad.

In addition to Braxton, other artists attached to this year's festivities include psych ensemble Absolutely Free, rapper Keita Juma, clarinetist Lori Freedman, improv project CCMC, New Chance, and Pantayo.

October 16's "MG Encore" program will "revisit four decades worth of commissions, partnerships, and works from members of our extended musical community." Composers being toasted include Nic Gotham, Allison Cameron, Martin Arnold and more. The MG Encore ensemble comprises Wesley Shen, Mara Plotkin, Sharon Lee, Bryan Holt, Wallace Halladay, Xin Wang and Dan Morphy.

Additionally, one evening will feature a panel discussion featuring all past and present Artistic Directors of the Music Gallery.

A festival pass costs $40, while tickets to individual events are also available. You'll find more info over here.
