"Where is my mind?" is a question we've all asked ourselves frequently over the last little while, and Toronto rapper Nue is taking it one step further by flipping the Pixies' iconic track of the same name for his new single "Feel It Now."
While "Feel It Now" kicks off with the Pixies' instantly recognizable guitars and backing vocals, Nue quickly makes the track his own thanks to his emo rap flow and trap drums, with anxious verses giving way to a cathartic chorus.
Said Nue in a press release, "When I went to the studio, we were stumped for ideas. The producer [Nellz] asked me if there was anything specific that I wanted, and I always had this one song in my head that I wanted to sample, then we sampled it, and it wasn't looping right, so we had to replay it and it was perfect. I freestyled pretty much the whole song." The song was allegedly completed in 45 minutes.
The tune comes alongside a new music video that finds Nue struggling with the pressures of a corporate job. "Feel It Now" is the first single from his upcoming album Playground, scheduled for release on Wax and Republic next year, the follow-up to 2018's u met me at a strange time.
