The Toronto Blues Society's annual Maple Blues Awards are going virtual for 2021, with streams taking place every Monday in February from a different city within Canada.
Blue Zooms is the newest addition to the program, allowing for Covid-safe celebrations and catch ups. Blue Zooms offers a pre-show toast and after party gathering, taking place on Zoom before and after each segment to celebrate the winners and catch up with the community.
"Our four sessions are being pulled together with ingenuity and we look forward to staging virtual social contact by hosting 'Blues Zooms' to chat and check in around the Maple Blues Awards," explains Derek Andrews, President of Toronto Blues Society.
The first stream of the Maple Blues Awards will take place in Toronto on Monday, February 1 with performances from Dione Taylor and Jack de Keyzer. The second stream will take place Monday, February 8 from Ottawa with performances from JW-Jones and Crystal Shawanda. The third stream will take place from Montreal on Monday, February 15 with performances from Durham County Poets and Matt Andersen. Lastly, on Monday, February 22, the fourth stream will take place out of Vancouver with performances from Liam Docherty and Lindsay Beaver.
