Brooklyn black metal experimenters Tombs have already offered up a few brutal teaser tracks to their upcoming Savage Gold LP, but you can check out all of the alchemic results now via a full-length album stream on Exclaim.ca.
The album was recorded with Erik Rutan (Cannibal Corpse, Goatwhore, Hate Eternal) and continues the group's "journey into the realms of extremity," according to press materials. As the follow-up to 2011's Path of Totality, it's the first record from the group to feature bassist Ben Brand (Woe) and guitarist Garett Bussanick (Flourishing).
Opener "Thanatos" gives it up to the Greek god of death via demonic double-kick work, viciously trilled-out licks and from-the-crypt gargling. High-speed "Portraits" reflects the genre's traditional whirlwind of speedy scissor beats and melancholic metal shredding, while "Deathtripper" plays up elements of goth, industrial and the harsher side of post-punk with its distorted baritone vocals, chunky bass drive and stone cold rhythms.
You can hear those tracks, as well as previously teased tunes "Spiral" and "Edge of Darkness," and more down below.
As previously reported, Tombs have several North American dates lined up with Pelican, including a stop at Vancouver's Rickshaw on June 18. You can see all the stops here.
