Tom Waits Plans New Musical with In Bruges Director Martin McDonagh

Tom Waits is once again teaming up with stage director Robert Wilson for a fourth musical project, after the pair collaborated on three previous stage oddities over the years: The Black Rider, Alice in Wonderland and Woyzeck. But that's not all. According to /Film, the project finds Waits and Wilson being joined by Irish playwright Martin McDonagh (The Cripple of Inishmaan, The Pillowman), who is best known for directing the 2008 cult classic gangster film In Bruges.

With such formidable talent surrounding him, there's no doubt Waits should be able to create yet another wonderful and bizarre stage play, although no title or subject matter have been announced for the project.

The new show is scheduled to premiere in Paris in 2011, and if it's anything like the three previous Waits/Wilson productions, which debuted in 1990, 1992 and 2000, respectively, it should result in some great new Waits material for release worldwide.

The three previous plays were released as albums, and Waits's Blood Money record also features songs from Woyzeck.
