Tokyo Police Club

"New Blues"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Apr 16, 2018

Tokyo Police Club are back with a brand new single called "New Blues."

The tune was recorded at producer Rob Schnapf's studio in L.A. this past winter, though most of the new material they worked on was written during sessions at a church house in rural Ontario last year.

"It was exciting to hear ourselves in such a big space like that, the drums ring out, the guitars blend and swirl," frontman Dave Monks said in a statement. "I think it really affected the arrangements and songwriting. We started to favour simple rhythms, slower tempos (relatively speaking) and energy over details. It was really liberating. I think 'New Blues' really showed us we could thrive doing that."

"New Blues" marks the band's first offering since the second part of the two-part EP Melon Collie and the Infinite Radness arrived in 2016. Give it a listen below.
