Tindersticks Reveal 'The Waiting Room' LP, Share New Video with Savages' Jehnny Beth

BY Alex HudsonPublished Sep 22, 2015

The last time Nottingham band Tindersticks released an album, they revisited some songs from the past with their 20th anniversary effort Across Six Leap Years. This time, they're back to writing original material and on January 22 will issue The Waiting Room via City Slang.

This is the band's 10th album overall, not including Across Six Leap Years, and it's the proper follow-up to 2012's The Something Rain. It features an appearance from Jehnny Beth of Savages, plus a duet with Lhasa De Sela, who is described in a press release as a "dear lost friend" of Tindersticks leader Stuart Staples. The album's brass arrangements were created by British jazz player Julian Siegel.

Each of the album's 11 tracks will get its own music video. The band have unveiled the first of these, which is for the sinister, Jehnny Beth-aided folk rock ballad "We Are Dreamers!" The video from Gabriel Sanna shows a person being dwarfed by a massive dump truck.

The videos will come packaged on a bonus DVD along with the album, which will come on CD or LP. It will be available in a limited clear vinyl edition. Pre-order copies here.
