Those Peabodys

Those Peabodys are just two guys from Texas, playing all the instruments after the rest of their band quit just before the recording of this, their debut record. A quirky indie band with hard rock and blues punk aspirations, Those Peabodys have some real moments of excitement here, in the form of some tough, angular riffs. Songs like "Plum Parts" could almost be a lost Tricky Woo outtake from their The Enemy is Real album. "Too Quick" recalls recent Rocket from the Crypt riffage and vocal styling but done on a less grand, more garage level. All in all, there is some good, smart-guy, hard rockin' going down here, but the music has a flat, almost demo-ish quality that takes away from the power of the overall presentation.
