We all need to let off a little steam sometimes, and Montreal guitar experimenter Eric Quach is apparently doing so with his long-running Thisquietarmy project's next album, Anthems for Catharsis. The artist's latest cycle of seemingly sanity-preserving drone work will be unveiled on May 15 via TQA Records/Consouling Sounds.
Anthems for Catharsis follows 2014's Rebirths, a collection of reinterpreted Thisquietarmy material, but is Quach's first album of original material since 2013's Hex Mountains. A press release explains that Quach started working on the set at his Montreal studio at the tail end of 2014, with the goal of further evolving his approach to ambient music.
While in the past, Quach had flirted with elements of industrial, shoegaze and Krautrock, his latest effort is described as a "cold slab of harsh and moody drones" informed by black metal tones. You can take in a disquieting sample from the set in a brief album trailer, which you'll find down below.

Thisquietarmy is set to go on a European tour next month, but also has a hometown gig at Montreal's Casa Del Popolo booked in June. You'll find all of Quach's travel plans below.
