The Weeknd Cancels Los Angeles Show After Losing Voice Mid-Song

"This is killing me — I don't want to stop the show. But I can't give you the concert that I want to give you right now."

Following COVID postponements and network outages, the Weeknd has encountered yet another delay on his After Hours Til Dawn tour, this time because he lost his voice just a few songs into his Los Angeles show over the weekend.

On Saturday (September 3), he was performing at Los Angeles, CA's SoFi Stadium when he lost his voice and couldn't finish "Can't Feel My Face," the fifth song of the show. He immediately left the stage, before coming back to address the crowd.

"This is killing me — I don't want to stop the show. But I can't give you the concert that I want to give you right now," the singer born Abel Tesfaye said. "I'm going to make sure everybody's good, get your money back, but I'll do a show real soon for you guys, but I wanted to come out and personally apologize and not tweet it or Instagram it or whatever. I wanted you guys to know that I can't give you what I want to give you. I apologize. I'm so sorry. I love you guys so much."
 

He subsequently released a similar statement on social media:
 

The Weeknd has some time to rest his voice: he doesn't have another show until his rescheduled Toronto date on September 22 and the subsequently added second night on September 23.
