Published Feb 07, 2018The Rocket Summer is the solo project of Bryce Avary, a singer-songwriter based out of Dallas. The 35-year-old writes, produces and performs all parts on every song in his lengthy discography.
This past summer, Avary celebrated the 10 year anniversary of the Rocket Summer's breakout album, Do You Feel, with a headlining tour that made a stop at Toronto's MOD Club Theatre in early August. While in the neighbourhood, he visited our office to perform an intimate session of material for Exclaim! TV's No Future.
Avary played "FL, CA" from the Rocket Summer's most recent album Zoetic and revisited "Walls" from the 2010 Of Angels & Men LP. Notably, the performance of "Walls" is shaped around the use of looping technology, where the song is structured with Avary's singing voice, a cappella sound effects and some accented keyboard melodies.
Until we get a proper follow-up to Zoetic, sate your summer craving with the stripped-down performance on No Future in the players below.
