The Range

"Five Four" (video)

Brooklyn producer the Range (a.k.a. James Hinton) is showing us his Potential later this year, but ahead of the record's March 25 due date through Domino, he's unveiled a pensive new piece titled "Five Four." A video, starring grime MCs Ophqi and Superior Thought, is streaming now.

Directed by Daniel Kaufman, the black and white clip presents a calming, park-set spit session with a few more domesticated scenes. Tying it all together is a haunting if beautiful apparition in the sky. It hovers high above, transfixing the artists and anyone it comes across.

"'Five Four' is about the frustration of not being able to change the circumstances of a situation," Hinton said in a statement, adding, "I think [Superior Thought] captures it well — 'Scarred from the hard tasks and dreams that never came to pass … And yet he tried to walk the straight and narrow path but he fiend for the lights and the drama need an arsenal and an armour to inflict the force and cause trauma.'"

You can check out "Five Four," which follows the "Florida" single, down below.
