This year's Continue as a Guest is the latest instalment in a reliably excellent discography, and the New Pornographers have shed new light on their track "Firework in the Falling Snow" by sharing an acoustic version with Aimee Mann.
While the original version is draped with whooshing synths and a throbbing low-end pulse, this acoustic rendition presents it as a piano ballad with mandolin and pedal steel, resembling something that might have been on 2007's Challengers or frontman A.C. Newman's 2012 solo album Shut Down the Streets. Mann locks in with Newman during the choruses with sweet backing harmonies.
