The Bombadils

"Lone Journey" (video)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Sep 7, 2016

Led by Edmonton-born Sarah Frank and Halifax-born Luke Fraser, the Bombadils came together as music students in Montreal, and now the Canadian collective are readying their latest LP New Shoes. Before the record lands later this week, Exclaim! is giving you an exclusive first look at the band's new video for "Lone Journey."

The track is a take on a song by Rosa Lee and Doc Watson about a pair of loved ones who have lived a happy life together, but are forced to say goodbye when once must pass away before the other — a song the Bombadils' describe as "heartfelt and heartbreaking."

"It's a song that never gets old for us, even after performing it again and again," the band tells Exclaim! "We still find the song has a special power to make us very grateful for that moment and for life in general, and to make us feel closer to each other and everyone in the room."

The clip itself was filmed at a McGill student residence in Montreal and directed by Jesse Daniel Smith.

New Shoes arrives September 9 through Borealis Records, and the band will be playing a series of Canadian album release shows, which are listed below. Scroll beyond those to watch the video premiere of "Lone Journey."
