You might have forgotten about Vancouver punk vets the Black Halos, since they haven't released a proper full-length album since 2008 and broke up in 2009 — but that's about to change. They have shared the new single "Tenement Kids" in support of the forthcoming How the Darkness Doubled, due out November 25 on Stomp Records.

The album features reunited original members Billy Hopeless, Rich Jones and Jay Millette, alongside new members John Kerns and Danni Action.

Jones said in a statement, "Reuniting with Billy and Jay for this new album brought my focus back to writing with a mindset that was pure, uncompromising Halos — as far as I'm concerned we've really achieved it. Having our friends John and Danni on board makes this feel like the strongest lineup that we've ever had and you can really hear it on this record."

How the Darkness Doubled was originally intended to be the title of the band's third album (which ended up being 2005's Alive Without Control). They ended up using it this time around, because the album is said to be a spiritual sequel to 2001's sophomore album The Violent Years.

The album was recorded in Toronto and mixed by Dave Draper. Get a taste of it via the video for the snarling "Tenement Kids" below. In the performance clip, Hopeless is wearing an SNFU shirt in tribute to the late Mr. Chi Pig.

The Black Halos released the three-song EP Uncommonwealth last year.
