Saskatoon rockers the Sheepdogs are back today with another new EP — their second independent release via their own Right On Records.
A companion piece to August's Paradise Alone, Hell Together sees the band dive deeper than ever into Americana territory as they debate the compelling question raised by the titles' of the two collections: is it better to be in paradise alone, or in hell together?
The latter was recorded in the months following its predecessor at Toronto's Taurus Recording with engineer Thomas D'Arcy, who previously worked alongside frontman Ewan Currie on two of the Sheepdogs' JUNO Rock Album of the Year-nominated LP: 2022's Outta Sight and 2018's Changing Colours.
"It was good to be back with Thom," Currie said in a release. "We've known each other a long time, and there's this dynamic where we're always learning from each other. You never stop growing as a band — it's an education every time."
Of the title track, the frontman added, "We've been through 'hell together,' but that's what makes us a brotherhood. Being in a band, you're constantly out there, united against the world, and it builds a strength like no other. This song captures that bond."
