It's unclear when reunited alt-rock outfit Belly will start serving up their previously announced series of singles, but the group have revealed that they'll be giving their debut album the reissue treatment this summer. An updated version of 1993's Star comes out on wax July 15 via 4AD.
News of the reissue comes 23 years after 4AD originally released the album. While a single LP reissue had been delivered through the Plain Recordings imprint in 2014, this latest and official version is being spread across two plates of vinyl.
The upcoming Star repress also features updated artwork from drummer Tom Gorman, which you can see up above. Packaged in a gatefold sleeve, the records are arriving on white marbled vinyl. A CD of the material is also being dropped in the sleeve.
Star received plenty of buzz upon its initial release via singles including "Feed the Tree" and "Gepetto." The band would end up being nominated for a pair of Grammys in 1994, for Best Alternative Album and Best New Artist, respectively.
Formed by former Breeders/Throwing Muses member Tanya Donelly in 1991, the reunited band also includes bassist Gail Greenwood, guitarist Tom Gorman and drummer Chris Gorman. Original bassist Fred Abong had played on Star, but was replaced by Greenwood following its release. The second lineup would issue sophomore set King in 1995, but disband the following year.
As previously reported, Belly announced their return earlier this year, noting in February that there are "a handful of brand new Belly songs in various stages of writing and recording."
Live dates have been booked in Europe and North America, though none of these take place in Canada. All the same, you can check out the summer show schedule over here.
