Since re-forming in 2010 after several years in hiatus, California punk-rock band Swingin' Utters have been keeping themselves busy recording music and bringing the noise to audiences.Their most recent album, Poorly Formed, which came out in February of this year, was anything but, and sees the band making forays into country and folk alongside the punk-rock they've delivered for decades.
We met up with band members Johnny Bonnel and Darius Koski at Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern, where they performed "Scary Brittle Frame" from 2011's Here, Under Protest. The song simplifies the structure of the recorded version to just acoustic guitar and vocals, but still manages to maintain the song's whimsical vibes. See the performance below.
