Swamy and Astro & Glyde/Various

Le Souk Sunday Sessions

BY Philip DowneyPublished Sep 1, 2005

This double disc is based on a Sunday night party in Manhattan. On disc one, Swamy is in charge of things for a great house mix. His set starts off with some funky breaks from Dublex Inc. and Rodney Hunter that would start off any party on the right note. He then shifts into four-on-the-floor beats a little later and keeps that up until the end, with some fine tracks from Hipp-E, Pashka and Plej. On disc two, Astro & Glyde are a little more thumping and boring with their progressive house mix. The bass lines and kick drums are just a little too similar to sustain any interest. Still, there are a few good tracks by Guy Williams, Muttonheads and Stisch.
