Suge Knight Slaps Kanye West with $1 Million Lawsuit over Shooting Incident

Kanye West took a lot of flack following the whole Taylor Swift debacle, with people calling him selfish and arrogant and fingering him as both an asshole and an egotist. No matter your feelings on West, it's easy to forget that no matter how bad he gets there will always be a more selfish and arrogant asshole in the hip-hop world: Suge Knight.

As Billboard reports, Knight is suing West for $1 million after he was shot at a star-studded Miami party hosted by West in August 2005. According to police, six shots were fired at the event, one of which hit Knight's leg, shattering his femur. Now, over four years later, Knight is suing for the cost of his medical bills ($200,000) and additional damages, which somehow are totalling a million.

Of course, there's one person with nothing but good things to say about Knight, whose reputation as a crook in the hip-hop business goes unparalleled - his lawyer Marc Brumer. "He's an icon in the music industry. He walks in a room and he lights it up," Brumer said. "He had an expectation of security there. How someone came with a gun into a very VIP party, that just doesn't meet the smell test in life."

Knight is claiming that West should have anticipated violence at the party after he invited both East and West coast rap figures, who have traditionally had beef.

So, negligence, according to Knight, means "neglecting to anticipate how much people might hate me and want to shoot me."

A court date has now been scheduled for December 6, in Miami, after West and the venue's ownership denied Knight's negligence claim.

In related news, Kanye is reportedly at work on his new LP, Good Ass Job, which, as we reported earlier, might just feature Pete Rock, RZA, Q-Tip and Pusha T from the Clipse.
