If youre like us, youve been waiting desperately for a news update to tell you Studio are finally releasing their proper West Coast follow-up. Well, sorry to disappoint you but this isnt that story. However, it is perhaps the next best thing: the bands Dan Lissvik has dropped word hes stepping out for some soon-to-be-released solo action.
Taking on the moniker D. Lissvik, the electronically-inclined Swede will leave the comforts of his blog-adored duo to release 7 Trx + Intermission, which will come via Studios imprint, Information, on November 24 on both twelve-inch and CD. And by the sounds of the few tracks posted on Lissviks MySpace page, this entirely instrumental, song title-less affair comes bearing many, if not all, of Studios beloved hallmarks: the strung-out dub rhythms, the Durutti Column-styled guitar lines, the world-influenced percussion and, most importantly, the layer upon layer of rich, rich headphone-catering textures. Nice.
However, at this point, weve only heard word of a confirmed Scandinavian release, with no mention of North America. With any luck though, we Canadians wont have to wait a whole year or two to get our paws on a physical release of the album like we did with West Coast.
