Stormzy has returned with details of a new album. The artist will share third studio LP This Is What I Mean on November 25 via 0207 Def Jam/Interscope.
Following Stormzy's Mercury Prize-nominated 2019 LP Heavy Is the Head, the 12-song This Is What I Mean was created in part at a "music camp" hosted by the artist on Osea Island, a 380-acre remote island in the British Isles which is only accessible for fours a day at low tide via a Roman-built causeway.
Joining Stormzy were "leading-edge producers and musicians (who will all be unveiled in due course)," per a press release — one of whom could be Sampha, based on a tracklist inclusion titled "Sampha's Plea."
"When you hear about music camps they always sound intense and sombre," Stormzy shares in a press release. "People saying: 'We need to make an album.' 'We need to make some hit records.' But this felt beautifully free. We're all musicians but we weren't always doing music.
"Some days we played football or walked around taking pictures. And the [byproduct] to that was very beautiful music. Because when you marry that ethos with world class musicians and the best producers, writers and artists in the world, and we're in one space, that's a recipe for something that no one can really imagine. You can't even calculate what that's going to come up with. And it came up with a big chunk of this album."
In late September, Stormzy shared 10-minute non-album single "Mel Made Me Do It," complete with a video you can watch below, featuring appearances from Usain Bolt, Louis Theroux and more. Last year, he appeared on a new album from Dave.
This Is What I Mean is now available to pre-order and pre-save.
