Still Life Still

Girls Come Too

BY Jessica LewisPublished Aug 21, 2009

Upon first listen, Still Life Still are full of infectious melodies and catchy, light guitar-laden hooks. And then, digging deeper, there lies the catch: the songs that appear on Girls Come Too are raw, sexual and attention-grabbing. "Danse Cave" starts off the album as the first dazed eye contact across that familiar dark room, and it brings the appropriate sweat. Going through songs about unfortunate childhood memories — if you've been in a band with guys you knew since you were kids, you'd probably be thinking about these things while trying to impress a girl too — towards the pick-up line of progressive first single "Neon Blue" and then the finishing line (so to speak) of blunt "T-Shirts" to the calming satisfaction of "Wild Bees," Still Life Still employ a young personality. But the fact that their sound is clear, practiced and catchy on this album leaves it enjoyable in all senses.
