Steve Gunn Signs to Matador, Premieres New Video

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Mar 11, 2015

Rising folk figure Steve Gunn made a big impression with 2014's Way Out Weather and his recent Seasonal Hire LP with the Black Twig Pickers, so much so that he's now been signed by esteemed indie imprint Matador.

The label revealed their acquisition today (March 11), reporting that Gunn has now entered the Matador stable. He had previously worked with imprints like Paradise of Bachelors and Three Lobed Recordings. Matador describes the artist, who had played in Kurt Vile's backup band the Violators, as a "rare artist with equal footing in the rock, folk and avant spheres." Matador has not yet unveiled plans for Gunn's label debut.

To celebrate the signing, Gunn has unveiled a video for his Way Out Weather track "Wildwood," which you can see down below along with a rather hefty 2015 tour schedule. He'll be making his way across the globe between March and August, with a lone Canadian appearance scheduled at the Winnipeg Folk Festival in July.
