Steve Gunn Announces Debut Album for Matador, Plots North American Tour

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Mar 30, 2016

After signing to Matador Records last year, rising folk figure Steve Gunn has announced that his debut effort for the label is slated for release this summer. Titled Eyes on the Lines, the record will land in June.

A press release describes the record as "Gunn's most explicit ode to the blissful uncertainty of adventure yet." Such feeling is captured in the accompanying video for first single "Conditions Wild," which was inspired by Rebecca Solnit's A Field Guide to Getting Lost. Directed by Brandon Herman, the visuals are about embracing the unknown and finding comfort in getting lost.

Along with the album announcement, Gunn and his band have rolled out an extensive spring and summer tour through Europe and North America, which you can find dates for below.

Eyes on the Lines arrives on June 3 through Matador Records, and can be pre-ordered on CD and LP here. Scroll through the record's tracklisting and tour dates to watch the video for "Conditions Wild" in the player below.
