Pillowface and his Airplane Chronicles

BY Marinko JarebPublished Mar 24, 2008

Celebrity DJ Steve Aoki (aka Kid Millionaire) has built a reputation as much by mashing up indie rock and electronic music as by taking his shirt off mid-mix and thrashing his stringy hair around. The L.A.-based owner of Dim Mak Records, ultra-hipster and international party boy has laid down a totally dope electro rock mix CD. Taking a cue from hip-hop, Aoki has collected a number of exclusive remixes with guest vocalists adding a bit of their own special flavour to the party. With everything from Soulwax remixing the Klaxons, the MSTRKRFT remix of "D.A.N.C.E.,” as well as Pase Rock’s guest verse on the Erol Alkan remix of Justice’s "Waters of Nazareth,” Amanda Blank’s fierce vocals atop a "Glam Racket” reworking of Franz Ferdinand’s floor burner "Do You Want To,” Kid Millionaire keeps the hipsters dancing so hard that their skinny jeans might burst at the seams as they wipe their bloody noses with neon, striped AA T-shirts. As Ms. Hilton would say, "This mix is like, totally hot!”
