David Byrne drowning, the B-52s covering the Talking Heads, Shabba Ranks. All of these are reasonable comparisons to Stellastarr front-man Shawn Christensen’s timbre, arguably the biggest thing working against the band’s Breakfast Club-inspired call-and-response formula. Christensen’s anapestic approach breaks down to embarrassing lows on "Jenny” and poppy misfit "My Coco” which is a shame, since the backing band seems to know how to carry a tune. Just stop fucking doing that shit with your voice, dude.
