Stars Celebrate "Christmas Anyway" on New Holiday Single

It's intended to help listeners survive "at least a few minutes of holiday hell"

Christmas songs usually fall neatly into one of two camps: happy or sad. Stars' new single, "Christmas Anyway," is decidedly the latter.

The melancholy, folk-tinged pop tune reflects on themes like the inevitability of change and feeling distant from family members — and how, despite these struggles, we'll all have Christmas anyway.

The band said in a statement, "In a world where the algorithm (and other horrible things) has made us all feel further apart, going home for the holidays isn't easy for everyone. What is it about these days that makes us feel we have to go home to face the loved ones we simply cannot ever be at peace with? We have no idea, but we do know that sometimes a simple song can get you through at least a few minutes of holiday hell. We hope this one does that for you. We love you all. Merry Christmas."

The song is a Bandcamp exclusive. Hear it below. Proceeds from the track will be split between the band and the Native Women's Shelter of Montreal.

"Christmas Anyway" shares its name with Stars' already-underway 2022 holiday tour.
