Squid dropped their sophomore LP O Monolith earlier this year, and now they've added to its lore. The band has just released an audiobook called Lessons, meant to be a companion piece to the new record.
Written by Paul Ewan and narrated by Tim Key of the London Pub Reviews Podcast, the 37-minute-long short story follows an out-of-touch geography teacher. It was inspired by John Fahey's 1967 album, The Transfiguration of Blind Joe Death.
"We're huge fans of Tim and Paul's podcast London Pub Reviews and during the recording sessions for O Monolith, we reached out to Paul asking if he'd consider writing a narrative accompaniment to the record in that vein. On receiving the story it felt only right to see if Tim might be up for bringing it to life in his inimitable way," the band said in the audiobook's description.
Lessons is available as a pay-what-you-can digital track on Bandcamp. Listen to it below.
