Springheel Jack

No doubt a sign for the kinds of things one might hear on Oddities - a six-track EP of sonic chaos. The highlights include a jazz-noir soundtrack to William Burroughs' "The Road To Western Lands"; his voice is doubled in the piece to create a kind of inner monologue. Spiritualized's Jason Pierce also makes a guest appearance, contributing his vibrato chords to the ghostly melancholy of "Shine A Light." Other than these, the disc is not as dynamically exciting as the tracks on Treader, but still, it's a good indication of the duo's experimental sensibility.
