Spencer Burton Announces 'Don't Let the World See Your Love'

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jul 3, 2014

Spencer Burton used to play in Attack in Black and performed solo as Grey Kingdom, but these days he's going by his own name. Having shared a new solo track and promised an album for the fall, Burton has now announced that Don't Let the World See Your Love will be out on September 16 through Dine Alone Records.

The 11-song collection was produced alongside former Attack in Black cohort Daniel Romano. Regarding the album title, Burton said in a statement, "I've loved many things in my life, none more than music. I've shown so much and in the process lost so much of myself, I've also gained many things to fill the spaces where lost things once lay. It probably sounds like a negative title, in reality what it's saying is, 'Be careful of how much you show, when you show it and be careful of who you show it to.'"

The tracklist is below and the album cover is above. Scroll to the bottom of the page to hear the newly unveiled "A Body Is All She Ever Let Me Hold," which is a rustic acoustic ballad with syncopated folk rock instrumentation.

"'A Body Is All She Ever Let Me Hold' is more or less a ventilation of anger," the songwriter said. "It's a song about doing the unimaginable. What one can't do, sometimes can be done in song. I've never raised my hand to anybody and I never will, but I'll raise a song in a heartbeat."

The previously shared "Diamond" is also below, where you'll see Burton's upcoming Canadian tour schedule as well.
