After his mother thought he was merely a cover model for his first two releases under the moniker Grey Kingdom, Spencer Burton decided to release his latest effort under his birth name. The changes are more in the name than in sonics, with Burton still delivering heartfelt lyrics of longing and calm acoustic soundscapes.
We invited the ex-Attack In Black member to the Exclaim! office for a performance of "The Body Is All She Ever Let Me Hold" from his recently released solo record, Don't Let the World See Your Love.
Burton's guitar playing proves flawless throughout the short track, demonstrating his incredibly crisp finger picking technique. Lyrically, the song tells the tale of a downtrodden man left by his lover in a "house where no one comes around." The music suits the emotional, vulnerable nature of Burton's words perfectly and is sure to stir emotions in its listeners.
