Someone Covered Radiohead in the Style of N64, and It Makes Us Want to Weep

"Idioteque" and "Paranoid Android" have never sounded so tropical — or so beautiful

In the late '90s, both Radiohead and N64 were all the rage — and now those twin pillars of millennial entertainment have been united in the form of N64-themed remakes of some of Radiohead's most iconic songs.

YouTube user on4word has been uploading Super Mario 64-themed versions of Radiohead songs, as well as covers of IDM icons Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada.

They posted their first Radiohead version nearly a year ago: "15 Step" dropped last October, featuring a rickety rat-a-tat drum machine and some synth bells playing the vocal melody. It's pretty good! But they've really hit their stride with the hauntingly beautiful "Idioteque" (posted last month) and the curiously Caribbean-sounding "Paranoid Android" (from this Wednesday, September 7).

Experience the eerie sensation of feeling nostalgic about something you've never heard before by listening to the tracks below. It's 1999. You're in your parents' basement with a case of generic cola and wondering if all of the computers are going to reset at midnight on New Year's Eve. This is the happiest you will ever be.
