As we told you last month, Beyoncé spread some major love about wild indie rockers Of Montreal, saying that she'd love to collaborate with them. Front-man Kevin Barnes responded, saying he'd love to work with her in some form. While there hasn't been any follow-up between the two since, Of Montreal have reportedly roped in Beyoncé's little sister, Solange, for their upcoming album.
In an interview with Stereogum, Barnes revealed that Solange and like-minded futuristic soul diva Janelle Monae have provided vocals to the forthcoming Of Montreal record. As we previously reported, the record, which will either be called False Priest or The Controller Sphere, will also include some studio work from Jon Brion.
After already writing a song for Beyoncé, Barnes did mention a possible collaboration in the interview, saying, "Maybe it will happen. I'd love to do it, it would be a fun experience. It's just something she dropped and hasn't really developed. I wonder about it, too, because I don't know how good I am at writing songs for other people. When I heard that she said that, I thought, 'Oh, I should try to get something going.' I started writing this song, and then next thing I know, it's so weird that she would never in a million years listen to it, let alone record it! It's a challenge for me."
Here's hoping Solange gets her big sister on board.
