Chillwave isn't as chill as it used to be. Last year, Brooklyn glo-fi troupe Small Black released New Chain via Jagjaguwar, which showcased a more full-bodied electro-pop sound than their hazy self-titled EP. Now, Small Black have unveiled a video for the disco-infused New Chain single "Photojournalist."
The clip was directed by Yoonha Park, who filmed a woman going about her day, visiting the aquarium and the park. Then, a week later, she filmed the same scenes from memory using a different actress. The beautiful, natural imagery and haunting parallelism is a perfect fit for the shimmering synths and swooning vocals of the song.
