Skeletonwitch Bring Anciients Out for Canada-Heavy Spring Tour

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 10, 2013

Ohio's Skeletonwitch are currently cooped up in a recording studio with Converge's Kurt Ballou to record their follow-up to 2011's Forever Abomination, but the thrash masters just might bust out their newest metal masterpieces this spring when they head out on tour.

A press release from the troupe's label Prosthetic Records confirms that the act kick off their trip this May in Albany, NY, but shortly thereafter, Skeletonwitch get their groove on up north. Along the way, they'll play 12 Canadian shows between Quebec and BC.

Joining the band on tour are rising Vancouver prog-metal players Anciients, whose debut LP Heart of Oak drops next Tuesday (April 16) through Season of Mist.

"Another batch of steady gigging with our neighbours to the north!" Skeletonwitch guitarist Scott Hendrick said in a statement. "After weeks of recording the new album, we're stoked to get back onto the stage. New tunes, old heshers and Kokanee at questionable temperatures. Hope to see you there! Fuckin' eh rights!"

Not too many details have been delivered on Skeletonwitch's new LP, but the band are currently posting updates from Ballou's Salem, MA-based GodCity studio over here. Apparently the drum tracking is already done, and the full-length will feature some ripping pick slides. The album, their fifth overall, is expected to drop sometime this fall.
