Simone White

This is the second album from Hawaii-native White, a lovely combination of Joni Mitchell-esque vocals, barnyard fiddles, harmonica and soft percussion. The album is simple and pretty, but it's worth noting that the best parts of the record (half of it) were actually written by White. Songs such as "Bunny in a Bunny Suit" and "Candy Bar Killer," by her friends Frank Bango and Richy Vesecky, unfortunately have no linear place with the rolling swoon of "Baby Lie Down With Me" or ballad "Yakiimo." White also covers three other songs and adapted lyrics from a book in another. White's songs are personal, quiet confessions of lost love. She doesn't push her voice, so it ends up feeling like she's whispering these songs into your ear, just for you.
