Stepping away from the WolfCop universe, Saskatoon psych unit Shooting Guns are focusing on some entirely different soundtracking work. For the band's next OST release, they will be presenting a live score to F.W. Murnau's horror classic Nosferatu.
The full-length album will arrive on double vinyl, CD and DVD on November 16 via Cardinal Fuzz/Pre-Rock Records. The album was recorded live and mixed at Shooting Guns' own Pre-Rock Studios.
The Nosferatu Live Score is said to mark a pivotal step in Shooting Guns' evolution "from heavy instrumental psych into horror score composition." In a statement, Dave Cambridge of Cardinal Fuzz explained:
The Shooting Guns ramp up the dread and tension that is perfect for Nosferatu's gothic aesthetic. Haunting melodies chill the hairs on your neck until Nosferatu appears, and they let loose the best Wagnerian bummer riffs these ears have heard. Give yourself 70 minutes and a darkened room to absorb this masterpiece.
For a taste of what's in store, you can now watch a video for the album's "Nosferatu Act V," which is mixed with the film and footage of the band's performance at Saskatoon's historic Roxy Theatre back in 2016. As you'll see, the epic clip clocks in at nearly 20 minutes.
Right now, you can pre-order the Nosferatu Live Score over here. Orders — both physical and digital — come with an immediate download of Nosferatu (with Shooting Guns' uncut live score synced to the film) is included with all digital and vinyl.
