Following a string of albums on Merge Records, cute folk twosome She & Him have made the leap to the majors by joining Columbia Records for their next album.

Billboard reports that Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward's She & Him project has signed with the Sony sub-label and that a new album is expected out in the fall. That's currently all we know about the duo's plans, but more information about the album will doubtless emerge before to long.

Previously, She & Him have released three standard studio albums, plus 2011's A Very She & Him Christmas. Their last record, Volume 3, came out in 2013.

This is the second big-name act to leave Merge for a major label in recent months. This spring, Spoon jumped ship to Universal's Loma Vista.
