She & Him Cover Pop Standards on 'Classics' Album

She & Him are known for their devotion to vintage pop from the '50s and '60s, and the cutesy do of Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward have now announced plan to pay tribute to some of their favourite songs with a covers album called Classics.

An announcement describes the record as consisting of "timeless standards." Although most details about the project are still under wraps, Deschanel said in a statement, "We are incredibly excited to release a record of our favourite songs. It was a dream of ours to record these songs in a way that highlighted the brilliance of the songwriting and the beauty of their melodies. We had a wonderful time making the record and we hope people have a wonderful time listening to it."

Below, watch a trailer for the album. This is nearly identical to She & Him's previous trailer, but now it includes the album title. The clip also features the '60s R&B song "Oh No Not My Baby," which was co-written by Carole King and originally performed by Maxine Brown.

Classics will be She & Him's first album for Columbia Records, and it's expected to arrive this fall. They signed with the major label earlier this year following a string of albums for Merge Records.
