Alejandro Rose-Garcia, better recognized by the name Shakey Graves, is a powerful one-man band who revels in blues-fuelled rock'n'roll. The Austin-based musician released a collection of B-sides and rarities titled Nobody's Fool in February, and has kept up the momentum ever since, winning the Americana Music Award for Best Emerging Artist and embarking on a lengthy North American tour. Shakey Graves performed at Toronto's legendary Horseshoe Tavern back in September as part of the TURF concert series, and we showed up early to capture a session for Exclaim! TV.
Stomping his heels and picking his guitar, Shakey Graves performed a rendition of "Built to Roam" from his 2011 release, Roll the Bones. The rhythm fades in and falls away before Rose-Garcia reignites it with his bluesy croon. Watch the performance burn in the player below.
