The hugely popular Serial podcast is officially coming to the small screen thanks to a new documentary series helmed by HBO and Sky.
The four-hour docuseries will be called The Case Against Adnan Syed and will be directed by Academy Award nominee Amy Berg (Deliver Us from Evil). The series will explore the 1999 disappearance and murder of 18-year-old Baltimore County high school student Hae Min Lee and the subsequent conviction of her ex-boyfriend, Syed.
The series has been in production since 2015 and will re-examine the events leading up to the victim's disappearance, the original police investigation, and the present day, as Syed awaits a new trial.
It will air on Sky Atlantic in the UK and on HBO in North America.
In a statement, Sky said the series will present new discoveries and "ground-breaking revelations that challenge the state's case."
Sky's director of programming Zai Bennett added, "We'll be offering viewers a compelling window into one of the most talked about murder cases in recent years. The hugely talented Amy Berg has unprecedented access to those closest to the investigation, which is sure to make unmissable viewing."
As for the soundtrack, it will be helmed by the busybody scoring duo of Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.
At this point, no specific premiere date for the series has been confirmed.
